Planning for their financial future is an important aspect of any person's life, a fact the government recognizes.
That recognition has moved further with a redesigned website from the Financial Literacy and Education Commission, www.MyMoney.gov. The site offers information from the 21 government organizations that make up the FLEC.
"As America recovers from the most severe financial crisis since the Great Depression, it's critical that we strengthen every aspect of our financial system," Treasury Deputy Secretary Neal Wolin said.
Part of that economic strength depends on the ability of consumers to make informed decisions on a variety of financial questions. The site offers tips on how to plan for life-altering occurrences, including buying a home or having a child. It also gives information tailored to specific groups such as teachers, women, employers and young people.
The site also offers advice for setting up a household budget, which can assist people trying to stay out of debt. Along with the site, some people may consider consumer credit counseling, which can provide additional advice on how people can manage their money.
