Dealing with debt difficulties and more working hours, many fathers in the country are losing time with their families, according to a recent survey from CareerBuilder.com.
The annual Father's Day survey from the company shows that 63 percent of dads are working more than 40 hours a week. One-third said they have had to take work home with them, often doing so five days a week.
All this additional work is causing fathers to have to stay away from their families. Thirty-seven percent of respondents said they spend less than two hours a day with their kids. Meanwhile, 35 percent said they missed two or more of their children's significant events last year because of their jobs.
"Especially in tough times, working dads have to be more creative and strategic to successfully juggle both work and family commitments," CareerBuilder vice president of corporate marketing Jason Ferrara said.
While dads and moms continue to struggle with bills, some may be looking for additional help when it comes to their personal finances. One thing that could assist them is a consumer credit counseling agency, which can give advice about budgeting and cutting expenses.
