Though this time of year may bring positive feelings for some, a recent survey shows that consumers are not feeling too merry when it comes to the state of the economy.
According to a survey from corporate counseling company StrategyOne, 53 percent of respondents said they felt as though the economy is "in trouble." As far as the recession itself goes, 41 percent of respondents said it was in a "deep recession," while another 12 percent said the current economic climate matches what was seen during the Great Depression.
The survey also showed that the economy is having an effect on people's mental states, as 30 percent said they have been greatly effected by the economy, while 38 percent said they had been "somewhat" effected.
"How quickly businesses adapt to these new realities will go a long way towards determining how fast we recover economically from this most recent recession," Bradley Honan, senior vice president of StrategyOne, said.
Along with retailers, consumers who are feeling down may wonder themselves how they can recover from their current economy difficulties. One thing people may think about is going to a consumer credit counseling service, which can help consumer review their financial situation.
