Given that their lives may involve a lot of moving and life changes, having the best financial situation may be difficult for some veterans.
However, the New England College of Business and Finance is offering a free financial course for veterans, current servicemembers and their families. The goal of the Financial Literacy Boot Camp is to help them learn the lessons needed to navigate the world of money.
"Financial literacy is essential for anyone but with long war time deployments, multiple moves, and the requirements for continued education, our military members have the greatest need for this online course," said Howard Horton, president of the NECBF.
Included in the course are a variety of financial lessons, including those pertaining to saving money, budgeting and paying for continued education. The boot camp is being offered for free online, and features reading material, lectures and activities in five modules.
While the program may help members of the military maintain the proper battle plan for their finances, civilians may consider consulting with a consumer credit counseling service. These can also offer advice on how to handle incomes and expenses.
