A recent poll from Harris Interactive shows that consumers feel mixed about when the economy will get better.
According to the survey, 22 percent of respondents said the economy will start to grow in six months to a year. However, 39 percent said they thought it could take even longer than that.
Of those polled, 21 percent said they thought their own personal financial situations would improve in the next six months, while 49 percent reported they felt it would stay the same. However, 30 percent said they felt as though things would get worse for them financially in that time period.
Furthermore, almost 40 percent of those polled said the amount of income they take home shrunk in the past year, while 26 percent said the amount they make is less than it was three months ago.
As a result of shrinking incomes, many consumers may find it difficult to set up a workable budget. One option they may consider is going to a consumer credit counseling agency, which can analyze their income and expenditures and set up a plan to deal with their finances.
