When it comes to organizing their financial lives, a recent survey shows the majority of consumers place a premium on being able to take care of their bills.
According to the poll from Country Financial, 53 percent of respondents said that having enough to cover bills was their top financial concern. That was followed by having enough funds for retirement at 17 percent of those surveyed.
The company noted that despite the fact such a large portion of consumers' financial standing is tied to their homes, only 2 percent of respondents said that having the correct amount of insurance coverage was the most important priority for their financial choices.
"When it comes to financial security, protecting what you own today - your home, car and other possessions - is just as important to achieving financial security as saving for the future or paying bills every month," said Country vice president of financial security planning Keith Brannan.
However, some people may find it difficult to afford all of the bills that show up in their mailboxes every month, whether they be for credit card accounts or home insurance. Those who are having a hard time dealing with their finances may consider consumer credit counseling, which can help them set up a budget.
