Credit card debt is an issue many consumers are trying to deal with, though there are ways for them to get a handle on what they owe.
Recently, Informa Research Services noted that one thing people can do in order to deal with credit card debt is to make sure they pay down their existing balances. The firm notes that making even the minimum payment is better than nothing at all, though people should try and pay off more than that if they can.
"Carrying an interest-bearing balance on your credit card without making any payments can be lethal to your finances," the report from Informa stated.
Informa also recommended that people avoid being tempted to open new, unneeded credit card debt accounts just because there may be rewards offered by issuers. After all, people who are already having trouble with debt could get into more financial hot water with another card.
Though avoiding new lines of credit and paying off debt may help some with their troubles, other consumers may not be as lucky. People who find they are having difficulty paying off their loans may consider a debt management plan, which could help them lower interest rates and make it easier to keep track of their bills.
