Debt problems could arise for people who are out of work, as they may have to rely on credit in order to make day-to-day purchases like groceries.
However, the second half of this year could prove to be promising to people who are looking for work, especially if they cater their job-hunting efforts to small businesses. According to CareerBuilder.com, 32 percent of these firms plan on adding additional jobs in the next six months.
In fact, 21 percent said they would be looking for full-time help. Meanwhile, some workers are thinking of founding their own businesses as a way to help their incomes.
"The intellectual capital that companies were forced to lay off over the last 18 to 24 months was substantial and it is not surprising that many individuals are using their business skills to create their own opportunities," said Brent Rasmussen, a president with CareerBuilder.
If unemployed consumers manage to find work, whether through small businesses or other companies, they may still have debts they amassed during their jobless time. An option they may consider is a debt management plan, which may help them pay off bills over time.
