Employment is one of the main ways for consumers to find some help to pay off bills, and recent numbers show people may be finding work.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate fell to 9.7 percent in January after holding steady at 10 percent for the previous two months. The fields that did experience significant job declines were construction, transportation and warehousing. However, retail and temporary help increased jobs.
Secretary of Labor Linda Solis said that the Obama administration's top priority during this year is the creation of jobs in the economy.
"The president has proposed a broad approach toward job creation that includes assistance for small businesses, large-scale infrastructure projects, and investments in clean energy," Solis said.
Though some consumers may have finally found work, unemployment may have caused them to pile up on credit card debt in order to make ends meet. And though paychecks coming in may help, some people may be too far in debt for income to help right away.
In order to deal with this, some consumers may consider a debt management plan, which could help them pay off their debts in a shorter period of time.
