Though the economy has been tough on some consumers, a few still feel as though their incomes will improve in the next year.
According to a recent poll from Rasmussen Reports, 34 percent of those surveyed said they felt they would be earning more at the same time next year. Though that number remains unchanged compared to previous surveys from the company, there are some changes that show consumers are a bit more positive.
For example, the most recent poll shows that 13 percent of survey respondents said they felt as though they would be earning less a year from now. That's down from the 19 percent who said the same thing in a survey taken last July. When it comes to their incomes staying the same, 45 percent of those polled said what they earn will stay level in the next year.
Though some workers feel as though they may be earning more by 2011, others may find it difficult to nail down a job at all. The unemployment rate was reported at 10 percent in December, and many analysts expect it to remain at least at that level for much of the year.
As a result, some consumers may find it difficult to pay off debt as savings dwindle and bills pile up. Consumers who are trying to pay off debt may consider picking up a second job or cutting back on expenses in order to make ends meet.
